Welcome to the mind of an introvert. Now that you've probably made some assumptions about me, let me just remind you that introverts come in all shapes and sizes, personalities and tendencies. So while I may meet some of your stereotypes, I may simultaneously break others.
I know you probably think I write this blog for readers like you. Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but that's not entirely true. I actually post this content for myself. Being a person who processes information internally, my brain can get pretty full pretty quickly from all the external stimuli I encounter each day, and blogging about it here helps me process information, ideas, and feelings externally.
That being said, I also try not to post every life detail or issue here. After I first started blogging I knew it would be important to remember not to use this internet space as a means of gossip, passive aggressive behavior, or to avoid conflicts with others. Having a reader audience like you helps me keep in mind what I can post and what I should not post, and helps motivate me to edit and improve my writing skills and content.
At the same time, I do think one can be transparent without becoming a house of glass windows. My goal is not to give you the boring, superficial details of my day-to-day life all the time, though some of that may come up now and then. I hope that at some point as I continue to process my ongoing thoughts, mistakes, and/or stories, that at least one of them will encourage you or bring you joy or challenge you to live/think differently.
So here are some ideas of what I think you'll probably find most common amongst this blog:
- Personal reflections on current life. It is life-giving for me to reflect on my personal happenings in life. Writing about it here helps me process the data and feelings and render some thoughts I may not have noticed before.
- Adventures with my husband. Can't help but talk about him. He's my best friend and my partner in life, and we're trying to write a story with our lives. He teaches me a lot of things about myself and about life, and gives a different perspective.
- Baking endeavors. As someone who gains energy from being alone, baking is one of my activities that I enjoy as an opportunity to think, create, and share some love with others. You may also find me posting about other activities I enjoy, such as reading, finding good restaurants and cafes, writing, and singing.
- Creativity. There is something magical, beautiful, and exciting about the creative process. Half the fun is using my imagination, and the other half is making it a reality. The not so fun part comes with taking risks, making mistakes, and getting messy, as Ms. Frizzle would say. But hey, it's part of the creative process!
- Lists. Making lists is so much fun. Crossing things off a things-to-do or bucket type list is also really fun. So, you'll probably find lots of lists here. I guess you can count this one as the first one.
But I've come to learn (and am still learning) that opening up yourself to others can be an act of love - giving someone the gift of your genuine self without caring if they reject you and without expecting anything in return.
So I guess you can say that in a way, this blog is not just for me but also an act of love from me to you.
Happy reading!
With all my love from Him,
